Bio

Kimberly Guyer, Ed.D., joined the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in June 2021 serving as Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. In this role, she oversees Academic Advising; T. Rowe Price Career & Innovation Center; First-year Experience (FYE) and Family Connections; Multicultural Office for Student Access, Inclusiveness, and Community Engagement (MOSAIC) and LGBTQ+ Resource Center; Residential Life and Housing Operations; and Veteran and Military Affairs (VMA). She also serves as part of the campus' strategic enrollment team, representing the division on enrollment and retention matters.

Kimberly earned a Doctor of Education degree (Ed.D.)  in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education in 2013. Her dissertation is entitled “An Examination of First- to Second-Year Persistence of First-Generation College Students.” She also earned a Master of Science degree in Education (M.S. Ed.) with a specialization in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education in 2005, a Master of Arts degree (M.A.) in Human Resources Management from Hawaii Pacific University in 2002, and a Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in French and Spanish from Susquehanna University in 1999. In June 2018, she attended the Harvard University Graduate School of Education Institute for Management and Leadership in Education in Cambridge, MA. In June 2010, she participated in the HERS (Higher Education Resource Services) Leadership Institute in Bryn Mawr, PA and served on the HERS faculty in June 2017 in Bryn Mawr, PA.

Prior to coming to UCCS, she served as Vice President for Student Affairs from 2019 to 2021 at Alfred University, a small, private institution in western NY; as Vice Dean for Student Affairs at Temple University’s Klein College of Media and Communication from 2009 to 2019; and as Director of the Student Resource Center at Drexel University from 2006 to 2009. She also previously held various positions at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School from 2003 to 2006. She got her start in higher education and student affairs at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park over twenty years ago where she worked from 2000 to 2001.

Kimberly has been actively involved in NASPA (the professional organization for student affairs administrators in higher education) for over ten years, including serving more than five years on the Region II Advisory Board as the Pennsylvania State Representative, Upstate New York State Representative, and most recently, Membership Coordinator. Since moving to Colorado, she is serving as Volunteer Coordinator on the Region IV-West Advisory Board.

Kimberly is an avid distance runner, having completed three marathons, seventeen half marathons, and many more races of varying lengths in twelve states. She and her partner, Michael, are animal lovers and have a golden retriever and cats. She also enjoys traveling, horseback riding, skiing, snow shoeing, and ice skating.
